Professor in the Department of Physical Chemistry at the University of Debrecen, Hungary; Director  of the Department of physical Chemistry.

István Bányai is author of 70 publications and more than 150 abstracts of international conferences. The literature has been cited more than 800 times. His main research areas are colloidal chemistry and environmental chemistry. He was senior visiting scholar (2007) of Roswell Park Cancer Institute, New York, USA. And he was nominated (2003) the senior visiting scholar of Department of Biotechnology, University of Michigan.


报告内容概况:

Macromolecularligands are prepared making metal complexes from them, in other words toincorporate metal ions into it. These nano-sized metal complexes may act moreeffectively than small counterparts. In general, a polymer platform isdecorated with donor groups, mainly carboxylates or amins. The goal ofpreparation to obtain ligands which remove toxic metals ions from the environment.The MRI, X-ray or PET contrast agents are also based on metal complexes. Thislecture will show the decoration of polyethyleneimine with carboxy-methy groups(CM-PEI). The preparation of the ligand is basicly very simple. However thedetermination of level of funcionalization is more more difficult. The lecturewill show  an NMR protocol from which the composition, structure, size ofthe ligand and the level of functionalization can be succesfully determined. Inthe  last part of the lecture other methods will be shortly mentioned andsome application is discussed.
